SOS

Survivors Offering Support

Survivors Offering Support (SOS) is an all volunteer organization of Breast Cancer survivors who have dedicated a portion of their valuable time to help recently diagnosed women through the ordeal of treatment and recovery.  Each volunteer must complete a four step training process that begins at the hospital where doctors brief them on treatment options and the pathology of the disease.  The local SOS organization supports Howard County General Hospital and The Center for Breast Care in

Columbia, Maryland.

As part of their efforts to guide patients through the recovery journey, SOS provides “Recovery Gift Bags” delivered by SOS volunteers, filled with useful and needed “gifts” from local and national businesses to each breast cancer patient on the day of their surgery.  Included in these bags are beautiful, handmade pink scarves.  Pictured here is a sampling of scarves that we delivered to the hospital in March.  The scarves are made by our customers and soon by my daughter’s Brownie Troop.

Thank you so much for donating your time to such a wonderful cause.  This devastating disease touches the lives of almost every family.  It provides great comfort knowing that we are still out here helping to find a cure.

Thank you!!

CALLING ALL KIDS!!!!

We have had so many cool Kids that want to knit and so many that already do.  So, if you have a group or club at school, or if you want to start one, let us know, we are here to help. Remember - Students and Public School teachers and staff receive a 10% discount every day on yarn!!!

(20% if you have Alex!!  LOL)

CHECK OUT THIS WONDERFUL ARTICLE!  WE WERE IN THE APRIL 2006 COLUMBIA MAGAZINE!!

My daughter's friend brought it into her class for show and tell!  (I have taught a few of the 2nd graders so they were impressed...)  I have never been a Show and Tell before!  Hailey is  so proud of me. I'm almost as cool as Hillary Duff, and coming from and 8 year old, that is high praise indeed!    When we showed Alex that his Mommy was in a Magazine, he said that it wasn't as cool as having a yellow Power Ranger.  He's 5.  So much for fame going to my head!!!

PEARL or PURL?

By now most of you have met Purl, that furry little co-worker who keeps your husbands and children entertained

while you shop. She is now a big girl all of 4 years old! Come on in and throw her ball or rub her belly,

she loves her customers! She'll even help you pick out yarn (as long as it's no more than 4 inches off the ground!) But be careful, all of that static makes her very shocking to the touch!!
