2nd Annual 100 Scarves in 100 Days
June 28th, 2008, 2-6pm
We will be raising money for Survivors Offering Support by raffling off donated prizes, which will include signed books, yarn, and other goodies. We will also be giving out pink scarf kits again--this year to get a scarf kit a $3 cash donation is required, and all money goes directly to SOS. The scarves we knit will go into the gift bags given to patients on the day of their surgery.
Kits will be available beginning on June 28th. We will continue to give out kits after the 28th as long as supplies last.
SOS - Survivors Offering Support
Survivors Offering Support (SOS) is an all volunteer organization of Breast Cancer survivors who have dedicated a portion of their valuable time to help recently diagnosed women through the ordeal of treatment and recovery. Each volunteer must complete a four step training process that begins at the hospital where doctors brief them on treatment options and the pathology of the disease. The local SOS organization supports Howard County General Hospital and The Center for Breast Care in Columbia, Maryland.
As part of their efforts to guide patients through the recovery journey, SOS provides Recovery Gift bags delivered by SOS volunteers, filled with useful and needed gifts rom local and national businesses to each breast cancer patient on the day of their surgery. Included in these bags are beautiful, handmade pink scarves. These scarves are made by our customers and soon by my daughters Brownie Troop.
Thank you so much for donating your time to such a wonderful cause. This devastating disease touches the lives of almost every family. Many of you know that this disease has affected my life as I have lost many friends and family members, especially my mother. It provides great comfort knowing that we are still out here helping to find a cure.
And as always, I hope one day we won't have to.
Thank you!!
